Raise the Roof for Shelter is a Victoria fundraiser started by the Modern Real Estate Team in 2013. The money raised supports the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation and the funds are redirected back into our community to support four local women’s shelters: Victoria Women’s Transition House, The Cridge Transition House for Women, Margaret Laurence House, and Sooke Transition House Society. Thank you to everyone who has supported the cause over the last eight years, with your help we have raised over $68,000 to date! These funds are crucial for shelters which give women a safe place to escape domestic violence. Together we are breaking the cycle of the violence and creating a stronger community.
The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. Each year the foundation helps more than 30,000 women and children who are served by these shelters and support programs.
In August 2021, our team member Sonya Conn will be trekking in British Columbia’s Northern Purcell Mountains in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. Over the course of 6 days, she will be hiking across some of Canada’s most majestic terrain. While the scenery will be incredible, the hiking will not be easy as she will be carrying all her gear and camping supplies on her back. Each dollar raised and every step taken will make it easier for women and children in our community to walk safely away from violence.
